The Photovoltaic Park Blue 1
is a groundbreaking project in Albania’s energy production, marking the first and largest privately owned photovoltaic park in the region.
Located in Fier Municipality, about 120 km from Tirana, it operates independently from government subsidies, selling all its electricity directly to the market. The park benefits from Albania’s highest solar radiation levels, thanks to its unique microclimate and favorable soil conditions.
Blue 1, with a total installed capacity of 67 MWp DC, became fully operational on May 24th, 2024, and is managed by ABKONS for its operations and maintenance. The project has a technical lifetime of over 25 years, with a minimal degradation rate of 0.3%. Additionally, feasibility studies for energy storage solutions are underway, further enhancing the project’s sustainability. A development assistance agreement has been signed with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy for a 49-year partnership.
